You see, they do this by adding increasing amounts of advertising. This is what newspapers tried doing as well, and then it wasn't enough profit for the shareholders and they are too bloated so now they are screwed.Digg isn't large enough to be in the same amount of trouble they are in but Digg will be hurting one of these days soon, especially as ad rates continue to plummit due to lack of consumer spending (hint: its what makes a business relying on ad sales successful).

Ehhh, I wouldn't trust a wild anaconda, or, pretty much, any anaconda for that matter around my neck & it roaming around freely. Not that I don't like anacondas, I think they're amazing snakes. I've just known too many to be far too aggressive. I'll agree with the first guy somewhat knew what he was doing. I agree, Digg, who has several [dozen] times the active users of Reddit, should write software to make it impossible to submit stories once they get posted to Reddit. That way thousands of people would miss out on news stories while a handful of elitists could feel good about themselves for following an extra RSS feed. This would somehow greatly improve the user experience and utility of the internet.
