I like the Cure, but if Robert Smith was a vampire, vampires would be a lot less scary. They'd just stare at your neck looking like they were about to cry.
I used to work in the NOC for a company that serviced a number of clients including the FBI in New Mexico- we would hear from their techs as well as our own observations that about 80% of intrusion attempts could be traced back to China. Another 15% seemed to come from Corsica and the rest were varied. But yes, this has been going on for years.

Must not be in Minneapolis. I have had several iphone friends jump to either Pre on Sprint or droid on verizon cause the AT&T network is garbage. I would probably use the iphone if it was on a useable network for the same price..
If you were that old, you'd probably have a bum ticker too.!

It goes without saying: About damn time. Now we have to convince somebody else to come here though... Damn. |

I can't understand why Hollywood can't stop with the remakes (other than for some unfathomable reason people seem to watch them even though they're almost universally panned by critics and fans alike). There are countless great screenwriters out there wasting their time on this crap. It's insulting.

"2) holding the prisoners and trial in New York City puts the city's civilian population at unnecessary risk of new terror attacks"Why do people from distant suburbs love to speak for the safety of New Yorkers? I live in New York City and I can tell you that there is absolutely noone who feels unsafe because of these trials.

The first problem we would need to overcome is defining a goal. Right now we have none. Once you have a very specific goal defined you can start defining the things you need in order to achieve it and begin the work towards that goal.We didn't wake up one morning and build a Saturn V rocket. We, instead, defined the specific hurdles we would need to overcome to get to the moon, then we worked on those, one at a time. Long before Apollo we had un-manned launches to prove heavy lift technologies. Then came Mercury to prove life support, communications, navigation, etc. Next was Gemini to deal with more complicated issues such as EVAs. None of this even takes into account the early un-manned Saturn rocket (Saturn I thru IV, and variants) tests. All of this, just for one primary goal. Go to the moon. You cannot just say "we need manned space flight", you need a specific goal that is clearly defined and achievable. Then, and only then, can we start talking about the technologies necessary, and the cost required, to accomplish it. Until that time, I have no problem with retiring the shuttle, there is no real reason to continue with it and lots of good reasons not to. |
