While trade is important we do have to watch out for those that would fleece us out of our hard earned money as Enron and ICE have stolen money right from our very wallets by inflating the price of energy / gas. China didn't buy dollars out of the goodness of their hearts, or in a bid to take over the USA. They did it in a calculated bid to strengthen the dollar against their currency. This increases their imports into the USA. Based on the USA's disinterest in defaulting on it's bonds, this is a good strategy. Now China is decoupling from the dollar and buying Euros, to strengthen imports to Europe, again this is a good strategy.The strategy is called "beggar your neighbors". The part that pisses me off is that Europe invented the strategy and the USA and Europe are allowing it.

@superkendallI agree with you for the most part. But, one problem here is that a lot of the ports won't allow ships to dock that have guns on board (even if they're locked up) and that's why most ships remain unarmed. That's also why the pirates need very little firepower to take a ship.
