“According to the article, Google is NOT going to make the hardware (they think LG or Samsung is) and they ARE going to enable other people (ie LG or Samsung) to build the hardware. In other words, Google will design the software, will drive the design and functionality and will Google brand it but the manufacturing will be done by the manufacturer. I agree wholeheartedly. My largest concern is that in response to their actions [e.g. Al-Qaeda] the US will descend to their level. If that happens ... they have partially won in their effort to diminish this nation and the positive effect it can have on the world.For the non-US naysayers - No. The US is not perfect. Why do we think we can win these types of wars? If you don't have the peoples support that you are occupying you must brutally put down any uprising. I don't think we are willing to do this or should we do this. All I see is that we go from village to village, some old man lies to us but there is nothing we can do, so we drive to the next village while hopefully while not getting blowup by some IED while getting there and repeat the same stupid process. Bin Laden is not even around these area or hell we are not even 100% sure if he is still alive. Why are we wasting lives over there when there is no clear attainable goal?

I think what is more telling than these ethically questionable business practices is the stand of our Attorneys General and other officials who are supposed to look out for citizens' interests. Combined with our elected officials continuous pandering to corporate interests, I have a hard time expecting this situation to change unless the issue of consumer rights is a real and foremost election issue.
